Disueño (1977-1979)
La Vitrina is a small display area in the Museu del Disseny’s Document Centre, where a selection of documents from the collections it has in its custody are periodically and temporarily displayed.
The display ‘Disueño (1977-1979)’, opened to coincide with the publication of the book Disueño. Cuando el arte y el diseño jugaron a ser lo mismo (1977-1979), is a collection of some of the documents that are testament to a particular initiative which was also unique within the context of design in Barcelona in the last quarter of the 20th century.
Disueño embodied the desire for freedom that at that time pervaded the world of design, a world which at the beginning of the 1970s was still constrained by functionalist principles.
For three years, Disueño attempted to provide a stage for the will to give projects a more crafted dimension, one which was less tied to the directives of the industry, to conceive the everyday as poetic objects, and to drive research towards the new based on the critical review of history.
