ITINERARI 3: Plaça de Josep Antoni Coderch

You can see a paved architectural space, to the right of the Museum’s entrance, which is bounded by a pergola and other items of urban furniture, added to which are chairs for relaxing. Space designed by: MBM Arquitectes, 2013.
José Antonio Coderch was one of the most representative architects of the architectural renewal in the second half of the 20th century. He was one of the main figures responsible for opening up postwar Catalan architecture to contemporaneous international trends. His works include the Ugalde de Caldetes house, the painter Antoni Tàpies’ house in Barcelona, the Trade buildings also in Barcelona and the expansion of Barcelona’s School of Architecture. He was the recipient of numerous prizes throughout his professional career and was awarded the FAD medal in 1977. He designed several items for his buildings’ interiors, notably a suspension light and the Polo and Capilla fireplaces.
