Ceramics from the Museu del Disseny travel to Canet de Mar

Since 18 February, the exhibition “Modernist ceramics and Lluís Domènech i Montaner” has had two pieces granted by the Museu del Disseny. These works were part of the temporary exhibition “Works. Ceramics applied to architecture.” which ended on 29 January and contained more than 300 ceramic objects.

The two pieces that were granted were made in the Ceramic products factory owned by the sons of Jaume Pujol i Bausis in Esplugues de Llobregat. Created at the start of the 20th century, they were intended to form part of the relief decoration and glaze of an architectural complex. One of the pieces was designed by Josep Puig i Cadafalch, a pupil of Domènech i Montaner himself.

The exhibition of Domènech i Montaner has been commissioned by the art historian Vicente de la Fuente, with other institutions collaborating with it. One of these is the Arenys Museum, the Museums of Esplugues, the College of Architects of Catalonia, the Valencia National Ceramics Museum and various private collectors.

The exhibition, which will take place at the Lluís Domènech i Montaner House Museum in Canet de Mar, will be open until 17 September. The overall project also celebrates the opening of a new permanent exhibition hall at the house museum.
