Women designers, now more present than ever
Thirteen pieces that were part of the exhibition "Here We Are! Women in Design, 1900 - Today," which was accessible at the DHub until last January, have now been incorporated into the discourse of the permanent exhibitions at "Common Objects. Local Histories, Global Debates" and "Do You Work or Design? The New Visual Communication, 1980-2003."
The selected pieces represent a range of typologies and highlight the contributions of various designers over the past seven decades. In the product design exhibition, visitors can view items such as the Nit chair by Lola Castelló (1986) and the Urbe chair by Nancy Robbins (1992), the Carrilet toy by Fina Rifà and Anton Font (circa 1966), a pencil pot by Maria Rosa Ventós (1969), Coffe the coffee set by Teresa Tayà (1970), the Luminoso wall mirror by Mireia Riera (1973), now Llum, a set of cruets and salt shakers by Rosa Vila-Abadal, Xavier Bulbena, and Jordi Marcet (1972), the Sabossababosa armchair by Lourdes Humet and Mayte Matutes (1971), and the FollowMe table lamp by Inma Bermúdez (2014).
Additionally, the graphic design exhibition includes the publication "Barcelona. Guia del ciutadà" by Loni Geest and Tone Hoverstad (1991), the "23 d'abril, dia del llibre 1982" poster by Eugènia Vidal (1982), corporate graphics for the Institut Català de la Salut, Ciutat Sanitària de Bellvitge by Pepa Estrada (1989), stationery for the Primavera del disseny, Barcelona by Marina Vilageliu (1995), and the design of "De calor. Quarterly magazine of cultural criticism. Number 3" by Xeixa Rosa (1996).
