Fortuny and His Wonderful Lamp is a multimedia exhibition about the modern cultural contagion between East and West, told from the history of creations (lamps, textiles and apparel) designed by Mariano Fortuny and Madrazo.

Fortuny was a designer, scenographer, painter, photographer, inventor and businessman. One important part ova ser dissenyador, escenògraf, pintor, fotògraf, inventor i empresari. An important part of his creations is that they introduce us to the fascinating, and often distorted, cultural exchanges between East and West in the last two centuries. Fortuny knew how to interpret and communicate successfully and thanks to this, through his lamps, textiles and apparel, we can trace the footsteps of a long-standing fascination with the East that spanned Europe.

In the exhibition and documentary of the same name, Claudio Zulian, filmmaker and artist, takes us on an unexpected and important voyage, that explores the concepts of East and West and their relation to identity in an time when these ideas are once again at the forefront of our current cultural discourse.
