BALENCIAGA. The elegance of the hat
Between the 1940s and 1960s, the hats of Cristóbal Balenciaga, one of the most internationally renowned Spanish designers, triumphed in the footbridges of high seams and were strolling in style and elegance through the streets of the world's cities that marked fashion trends. Now you have them gathered together to enjoy or discover them in this book accompanying the exhibition to be held at the Barcelona Design Museum, the first exhibition specifically dedicated to Balenciaga hats that has ever been done.
The book collects pieces and sets created in the department of the house of Balenciaga millinery in Paris and Madrid, from the late 1930s until the closure of the houses of Balenciaga in 1968. A tour, through the hats that will allow you to know its functions and the evolution of the fashion of the headdress between 1940 and 1960; to enter the Balenciaga House and especially its section of hats, and finally to read a collaboration of Philip Treacy, one of the most famous and great hat makers in recent years.
Through the pages of the book you can learn the sobriety and the elegance that characterised all Balenciaga's designs, and appreciate, in particular, the quality and beauty of the materials and the technical prowess that were involved in the making of these unique creations.
