Pure Gold. Upcycled! Upgraded!
Pure Gold. Upcycled! Upgraded! is an exhibition from ifa - Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen Germany offered in conjunction with the Goethe-Institut with the support of the Disseny Hub Barcelona that looks at the reuse of waste items and their transformation into design objects through artistic processes. The exhibition is complemented with a virtual platform and local workshops. The cornerstones of this project are ethics, responsibility, internationalisation and co-creation.
The Disseny Hub Barcelona presents a selection of work by both its curator, Volker Albus, and renowned figures in local design with pieces of the collecctions of the Museu del Disseny-DHub.
The exhibition has had curatorial input from different parts of the world, from Europe to Asia, Africa and the Middle East, enabling it to offer a wide range of examples of how upcycling adds value to the creation of new objects.
In addition, the DHub will be hosting a workshop from 7 to 10 May aimed at the local design and creation community wishing to demonstrate their knowledge of upcycling and the transformation of waste items into design objects through the creation of stop-motion videos. The workshop results will be displayed on the Pure Gold virtual platform in the guise of tutorials. The workshops will be directed by Axel Kufus, Annika Unger and Anja Lapatsch.
