Museum-Apartment at the Casa Bloc joins the Iconic houses of Catalonia network

Museum-Apartment at the Casa Bloc has joined the Cases Icòniques de Catalunya (Iconic Houses of Catalonia) network, a collection of historic residential buildings significantly linked to the creative and/or artistic genius of their designers or inhabitants. These are cultural assets that offer a territorial reading of the history and cultural expressions of Catalonia.

The Casa Bloc, an emblematic residential building designed by the GATCPAC architects Sert, Torres Clavé, and Subirana, and built in the Sant Andreu district of Barcelona by the Republican Generalitat between 1932 and 1936, is one of the most important examples of rationalist architecture in the country. Museu del Disseny-DHub restored and now manages visits to one of the apartments in the building, the Museum-Apartment at the Casa Bloc. A visit to Dwelling 1/11 allows visitors to learn about the innovation that the Casa Bloc represented for architecture and society at the time.

Cases Icòniques de Catalunya (Iconic houses of Catalonia) is a platform promoted by various cultural institutions linked to the creative, artistic, and cultural genius of Catalonia, with the aim of joining efforts to position and give maximum visibility to our heritage. With this intention, in 2017, Cases Icòniques de Catalunya was established as a private, non-profit organization with the goal of creating dialogue and collaboration between different institutions and heritage assets, in order to improve their management and increase their cultural and tourism value and visibility. With the Casa Bloc, the network now includes seventeen members.
