Rethinking material resources is essential to move towards more efficient and regenerative production and consumption models. The MATERFAD installation “Circular Matter” builds upon the first MATERTalk, which took place in January, and presents a selection of materials that exemplify new approaches to circularity.
Through innovative processes, these materials reinterpret, reuse and re-signify waste from different industries and products, transforming them into resources with new applications in design and construction.
In the exhibition, you can see and touch, among others, mosaics made from recovered fishing nets, leather alternatives made from waste from the brewing industry, biocomposites that use collagen from discarded feathers, fur and wool, and acoustic panels made from textile waste. Each of these materials not only rethinks the value of matter, but also proposes new strategies to move towards circularity.
